The Initiative for Prevention and Control of Diseases (IPCD) is implementing the TB LON PPM project in Nasarawa state. The goal of the project is to engage private for profit practitioners (PFP), community pharmacists (CPs) and patient medicine vendors (PMVs) in the identification, diagnosis and treatment of TB at the community level. This project is supported by KNCV with funds from USAID. The National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme’s Public Private MIX (PPM) strategy is being adopted for the implementation of the project in the State.
The Supervision was carried out between 3rd and 6th November, as well as 24th and 27th November 2020.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SUPERVISORY VISIT
⦁ To assess the quality of on-going TB case finding activities implemented by the health facilities and to ensure that implementation is in line with the national TB guidelines.
⦁ To improve the quality of TB services through on-the-job capacity building of health workers implementing NTBLCP activities at the facility level.
⦁ To identify the challenges being faced by the health facilities in implementing the TB LON PPM project and proffer solutions to them.
⦁ To retrain the Directly Observed Treatment (DOT) focal persons in the facilities on the proper way of using the reporting and recording tools.
