24th March of every year is celebrated as World TB Day. This coincides with the day in 1882 when Robert Koch discovered the bacteria that causes Tuberculosis. Initiative for Prevention and Control of Diseases (IPCD) celebrated this year’s World TB Day on 25th March 2022 at Umme Community, Nasarawa Eggon, Nasarawa State. Community awareness on TB and sensitisation of community leaders on TB were carried out during the celebration. IPCD members and volunteers also embarked on a road walk within the streets of the community and distributed handbills on TB during the walk. Persons with symptoms of TB were identified during the celebration, with 9 community members testing positive for TB with GeneXpert.
